my present to myself

in january i purchased the best present to myself yet...a new car! let's just say that it makes the morning commute enjoyable--so smooth, so quiet, so fast, and amazing seat heaters! i am super happy about the warm weather because it means driving with the sun roof open. plus the metallic paint glistens!

No school for me!

I taking a much needed day off tomorrow!  The apartment complex in Salt Lake I am looking at only shows apartments on weekdays, so I took a personal day so I could go check out that complex and spend the day with my mom...shopping, lunch, etc.  We'll call it my mental health day!  I love first grade, but sometimes you just need a break.

jelly beans

There are certain times of year I look forward to for their candy selections...one of them being Easter for William's Sonoma jelly beans and Cadbury mini eggs and the other being Halloween for the candy corn.

I was at William's Sonoma today and to my sheer delight...jelly bean season has arrived!

I have now become a blogger...

Recently, whether because of boredom or curiosity (I'm not entirely sure), I have been looking at friends' blogs thinking that it could perhaps be fun to have one of my own.  So here it is: Rebecca's blog.

Today in first grade we had a dental hygienist come and speak to the entire first grade (brave woman)-surprisingly, my friends actually listened pretty well.  At the end of her presentation, she of course asked if anyone had any questions.  For those of you who don't know, this statement is seen in the eyes of a six-year-old as an opportunity to share stories.  Often we have to explain the difference between a story and a question and usually it is to no avail.  Anyway, nearly every hand shoots up and the kids start talking about their cavity stories, why they like the dentist, why they hate the dentist, the reason their little brother doesn't brush his teeth... and you get the point.  There were also some candid confessions as some offered up information like, "I didn't brush my teeth today."  My personal favorite, however; (in an extremely proud voice) "I have 7 silver teeth." Too bad when you are six you don't realize such things aren't good to brag about!

Finally a little boy (not in my class) actually asked a question: "Why does floss taste all minty?"  Needless to say, we had a good laugh at his random inquisitiveness.  All I can say is there is never a dull moment!
